The nursery school is housed in the original Crigglestone Village School which is over 150 years old. The nursery has a large open plan classroom and an additional room for small group teaching. A large ramp allows free-flow access between the indoors and our large, exciting outdoor learning environment.
Children learn through planned, well resourced free choice continuous provision areas both inside and outdoors and are supported by highly trained adults who extend their learning and understanding. As the children progress they spend time in smaller teaching groups for specific areas of learning such as phonics and mathematics.
We have high aspirations for children's learning and record their progress through planned observations and learning journeys which are shared with parents. Our staff and parents expect good attendance and behaviour and children are rewarded for excellence through our 'Star of the Week' award and attendance certificates.
Nursery school places are offered each term and children are eligible to start nursery in the term following their 3rd birthday. If your child is eligible for 2 year old funding they can start nursery in the term in which their 3rd birthday falls.
We offer 30 hours provision during school term times for eligible children so that they can stay for the full day with a packed lunch. We also have a breakfast club and after school club. Fee paying sessions are available subject to availability. If you are interested in using this service please contact the school or view our charging policy for more details.
The last day for both schools is Monday 26th July. We re-open on Tuesday 7th September for.
Have a great summer!
